Note, this review is going to cover my thoughts on every area, boss, character and some of the enemies, spoilers are included
Also, I'm drinking monster baller's blend just for this review

What is Off?:
Off is a surrealistic french made RPG, you take control of The Batter, who's mission is to purify the world.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zone 0:
now hen you enter zone zero you can tell this going to be easy, as it's the tutorial, when you progress fr enough you meet a cat named The Judge(who is actually really important in the story), he tells you about this place, and gives hints and help for some of the most notorious puzzles (aka zone 1's 99999 floor building puzzle) but as you proceed you'll meet up with him again, combat tutorial, then it shows how to solve the block puzzles you see next, zone 0 is tutorial area, showing some of the thing sin Off you'll need to know
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zone 1:
The gimmick here? it's a large map containing many different areas all producing a different material, Smoke, Metal, Plastic, and Meat, let's just say I hatted navigating through the smoke mines, I hate anything restricts my view of the area around me,I got lost in there, 3 times, not fun.
the specter hunt in metal farms was pretty fun, just a straight forward slaughter fest with alpha (who one shot them at the time)
Then you reach the 99999 floors of a plastics building, took me awhile before I decided to head to roof, surprise there's the judge,he'll tell you to go get the floor from the ground level, then when you get to the postal service then proceed to encounter a Burnt,
Burnt (all variations): you truely don't know they guys are until zone three then you find out that burnt's are men who can no longer bear reality, the first time I fought them, I thought, Where the F*** is it's head, the first one freaked me out, idk why, but it did
as soon as you finish that place off you get to go to Alma, into the meat fountains, and let em say this, I think there is some hidden imagery here, and I don't like it, also the pedalo sound effects just no.
then you go the building in the middle and I got lost there a couple times listen for when the sound gets louder in front of one of the doors. that's the right way, then you finally get to fight Dedan, the guardian of the first zone, and he is a little lost in his mind,, he says you're the chief of the Specters, and tries to kill you, also he doesn't want to die, it's a long fight, not hard but took forever, after you kill him, you proceed to zone two
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zone 2, Bismark:
This is one as a name O.o, anyway, this is probably my favorite of the zones, the gimmick is the large library in the center of town, and what you have to is progress to the top of the library where you fight the boss ( roughly) doing numerous things on the way, like meeting judge's possessed brother Valerie, the boss is Jephet BTW, also you get a minigame
(took me a few tries but it's not hard)
Japhet, where do I begin, he's the guardian of the second zone, when you fight the final fight with him he has three stages, the first is a bird skull coming out of Valerie then a little bit into the fight he'll change revealing a living bird rising out of Valerie, then the final form is a massive bird, controlling fire, and through the fight the boss theme seemed sad, the boss knew his time was up, and used his true form so that no one would forget it, very memorable boss, his attacks didn't so much damage, but it was one of the points in the game where I thought, What am I doing? Japhet just didn't want to be ignored any longer, and when you finally get to the boss, it hardly seemed satisfying, it knows it's time is nigh, and it does what it can to be remembered, one of my favorite bosses in the game.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zone 3, Vesper:
this area, I hate navigating it, especially area one, what happens here in a nutshell is when ever someone dies their remains are burnt and turned into sugar, the secret element, what fuels the people so that can bear reality, to the point it's almost addictive.
the mini-game in area 3, Fuck it, I never want to see it again, Period.
on the way to area four the monorail gets topped, but when you get rid of the thing blocking the path, it doesn't attack, it just yells "help" as if it is trying to escape something, or can't stand what it's become.
when you get to area 4, the amazing music has a constant buzz playing over it even in battles, and I wanted to be done with it as soon as possible,
the boss Enoch, is HUGE, they had to make special sprites for this fight, Enoch is in charge of making the sugar which keeps every one sane, and he proves all your suspicions for helping the batter in saying, "I wish the dead(ghosts) would just go away" proving that the guardians had some control over the spirits but no true control, I think Jephet is the only one admitting to be the chief of the spirits, but even then, it couldn't call them the first time you fought.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Room:
This area answers so many questions, who was that boy in the cut-scenes after the bosses, why the bosses were the way are, and there was a broken earth int he 4th chapter ( it's reading a book in reverse) but I'll start with chapter 5 then work my way to 0 then the ending
Chapter 5:
here it showing(indirectly) that the father is treating a boy badly, and is wishing for his mother to pick him up, this place sent chills down my spine, like I was being watched, then when you get to a hallway you'll see scribbles of ghosts and specters and if you make to the other side it loops you back to the beginning, great for grinding, then when you back the way you came you get taken back to the starting room, and don't get me started not he living teddy bears.
Chapter 4:
This where the three guardians came from, they were some of the friend of the little boy, but when you go to visit them, you see the land natural and life filled, but broken, then when you get them together, Dedan said he'd take yo on a pedalo ride( not the pedalo's in zone one), Jephet said that in times like these, a book can be really important(note the library), and the Enoch said he'll bake you cakes to keep you happy(note the sugar factory), the zones they governed, referred to a promise they made, or what they say. leave the hut and click the sun to visit Mama( not the batter's mind you)
Chapter 3:
here you're loading different "false saves" taking you different areas within the same pace, the 2nd block is the one that made me say WTF the most, this area is Idk next!
Chapter 2:
this is pretty straight forward but the ending for it is weird, basically, you follow the role of Boxxer, who is trying to stop ballman from taking over ballville with his clones, which he does, Boxxer goes into a fight with a lot of ball man clones and sure you kill them in one hit but you take 1000 damage, at the end of the fight, Boxxer admits defeat and etc
Chapter 1:
this one chapter solved so many questions and started so many more, The Queen is his wife, and the conversation between them was... hard to explain but the dialogue was great in this cut-scene, but one line was, "we spent so much time thinking about the party, we forgot who it was for.
the boss it self, it was LOOOONG, there were 4 enemy's to defeat, and she too had add-on's the two that come to mind are delta, and ipselon, two of them formed what looked like wings and one had the ability to heal, and I killed all 4 of them, but think of this for a second The Batter just KILLED his WIFE, and here you really start questioning the batter's motives.
Chapter 0:
this is where I almost lost it in the game, when enter the child's room, you see it's the same one from the cutscenes, but this fight, REALLY puts your sanity to the test, The batter is killing his own son, who isn't even fighting back, then after you "win" the child says, "i'm afraid of the dark", followed by the batter :"you don't have to fear the darkness anymore"
as you proceed, you encounter encounter a switch with the judge coming after you, telling you (the puppeteer) that the batter hasn't been purifying worlds he's been destroying them, and you are left with a choice, help the batter finish his mission, or stop the madness the batter has created
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Batter Official Ending:
you side with the batter in one last battle against he judge the one who has helped you through out the entire game,
but here's my thoughts on what happened here, I think the world you're playing in is a world The Batter has created, and he is in a state of madness that there is no return from, and flipping the switch after the fight with judge symbolizes that batter ended his own life to escape his madness and his sins, and The judge is his consonance, and you, the puppeteer are the batter's sanity, why else would you help the batter, you're forced to be with him, at all times.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Judge special ending:
when you fight the Batter, you can see he became what he has been fighting the whole game, and his appearance is a cross between the ghouls and the burnt, still wearing the batter's clothing, saying he has been consumed by his insanity and has lost his cling to reality, and the fight showing that he is weak without you, and when you fight as the judge he goes down quickly (4 hits, maybe 5) when you win, it shows that you and The Judge are alone, left with your regrets, showing the chaos you have caused as the zones are devoid of life, and all color gone, and one area has nothing, it's just a large empty void, but it is showing that purifier was never pure to begin with.

This has been Blake, or sharky, and this was my thoughts on the game Off.
